Asia Regional Managing Partner and Head of Greater China Lorna Chen was appointed to the Hong Kong Government’s Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal (SFAT) on March 29 as a panel member for a two-year term starting from April 1, 2021.

Lorna has a wealth of corporate law experience, developed over a global career spanning 25 years and three continents (Asia, Europe and the United States).

“I am honored to be appointed as a SFAT panel member and look forward to being of service to the SFAT as it carries out its important statutory functions,” Lorna commented.  

The SFAT is a statutory tribunal established under the Securities and Futures Ordinance. It is chaired by a judge or former judge for hearing appeals against specified decisions made by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the investor compensation company recognized by SFC.  Its statutory purpose is to act as a safeguard to ensure that regulatory decisions made by relevant regulatory authorities are reasonable and fair.
